Ever since I have been working as a doctor, it has been my utmost effort to take the perspectives of my patients seriously, and to understand the details that are important to them.
In both of my private offices, I take satisfactory time resources, to understand you, as my patient, not only as symptoms of a given skin disease, but as a complex system, that needs to be understood in order to evolve concepts of cure together with you.
Sometimes, skin diseases are easy to treat. However, frequently, skin diseases provide complex constellations, for which you need time and a plenty of professional experience to solve these situations sufficiently. In such situations, I benefit a lot from working as senior staff physician at the Vienna AKH, since we are often confronted with severely affected patients seeking help at our hospital as a last authority. By this interdisciplinary scenario one gains valuable personal contact to competent colleagues that help my patients needing support in different medical fields.
I studied medicine in Austria (Vienna) and Germany (Greifswald, Heidelberg and Tübingen). From a scientific fellowship at the Kings`s College in London, UK, I developed the field for my thesis (Transglutaminases as diagnostically relevant autoantigens in patients with gluten sensitivity); with this, I graduated from medical school in 2003.
From 2004-2007 I worked as Turnusarzt (Intern Doctor) at Hietzing Hospital Vienna and gained invaluable experience in different fields of medicine (urology, gynecology, abdominal surgery, rheumatology, gastroenterology, Neurology und pediatrics). From 2007-2011 I did my training as a resident in dermatology at the Department of Dermatology of the Medical University of Vienna/Vienna AKH under the supervision of Professor Georg Stingl. I passed the Austrian and the prestigious European Board exam for Dermatology in 2011.
2012 I embarked upon fellowships at two renowned hospitals in the US ( ("Undiagnosed Diseases Program" at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda/Washington, Maryland, and "Visiting Scientist and Clinician Program" at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota).
Since my return I have been staff physician at the Department of Dermatology of the Medical University of Vienna/Vienna AKH, and since 2015 senior staff physician at this institution, head of the outpatient clinic for connective tissue diseases and, intermittently, leading the of team of physicians at the ward of our department. As I am also serving in our unit for emergency cases I am constantly trained for acute dermatological problems.
